I've just created a new template ([[:Template:App]]) that I think should help standardize formatting here and for [[Lightweight Applications]].

:I see there is already [[Template:Package_Official]] and [[Template:Package_AUR]]. People should know how to find packages, but it's also convenience/speed and information thing to provide a link to the package or AUR, which those do. I would say the order of preference for linking should be ArchWiki > Package_Official > Package_AUR > App (homepage). Earlier I changed links which were pointing incorrectly to the AUR to point to the official packages which had become available. -- Aedit

::I went ahead and screwed with this page to make it easier to read and to get on topic better. I think the App template it great, but I want to be able to opt-out of linking to the Arch Wiki page which comes in handy if there IS no Arch Wiki page. I also want to be able to link to either Wikipedia or the Homepage because sometimes the Arch Wiki page sucks, and/or the Wikipedia page sucks, and/or the Homepage sucks. I know this entails nestling like three different templates into the App template but it'll be the best solution. the goal of these pages is to provide information, that's the best way to do it as far as we can come up with. After you go ahead and fix up the template I'll go ahead and put it in both the articles. --[[User:Keiichi|Keiichi]] 06:03, 24 November 2009 (EST)

:::I've updated [[:Template:App]] so the first parameter is not formatted (i.e., you can pass in an <nowiki>[[ArchWiki]]</nowiki> link, or <nowiki>[[Wikipedia:]]</nowiki> link or simply leave it as unformatted text). However, I have left the home page alone -- regardless of whether an ArchWiki or Wikipedia article exists, I believe we should ALWAYS provide the home page link. -- [[User:Pointone|pointone]] 14:44, 24 November 2009 (EST)
