Thanks, Net147, those edits helped me remove the last issues I had with my diskless setup. I moved your DHCP workaround to the top of the list, that is a very good script you have. --Geekner
dnsmasq and pxe boot
I sucessful booted a VirtualBox machine without the three dhcp-option-force parameter in dnsmasq.conf.
The configfile is searched along a path according to the syslinux wiki, so it it is not neccessary.
I'm using a Tomato-based router, and only added this option to the dnsmasq custom configuration
<pre>dhcp-boot=pxelinux.0,arch,<ip of server></pre>

DHCP/Network Daemon Workaround
Changed to a more simple fix (derived from Net147's script) making use of confd to keep it closer to vanilla.
Also note if you want to change it back to the old way that the -p option is not actually required as it is implied by -s.

NBD
It seems like the thing to do these days is NBD instead of NFS. Any interest in changing the article or amending it with an NBD option? (I would do it, not asking anyone else to.) -- Piezoelectric 21:00, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
:YES! I'd like to see this, a RO NBD root could be a lot faster. --VitaminJ 10:46, 6 March 2011 (EST)
:I'm currently working on this. Already created a working nbd hook (even works with an encrypted nbd device). Expect a Wiki Page and an AUR package with the nbd hook within the next few weeks. 65kid 08:49, 3 July 2011 (EDT)
:: Your article is really nice/informative, but duplicates lots of information here. I propose a rename/merge to "Diskless network boot" (to not discriminated between either). --Buhman (talk) 08:26, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Wireless boot
"Hardware Considerations: [..] Wireless will not work, with exception of a wireless-to-ethernet external bridge."
Not entirely true! See http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/wirelessboot --Huuhaa 15:09, 20 January 2011 (EST)
