Planning slight re-structure to move "Shutdown, reboot, suspend, exit, launch terminal from SLiM" from "other options". This is to add a greater emphasis on these important commands (i.e. very useful where a mis-configuration results in being unable to progress past the login screen). 14:16, 25 November 2013‎
Warn against usage?
On the #archlinux IRC Channel, sometimes users come in having problems with Slim. The response/advice is usually to switch to another DM.
The channel factoid !slim states: "Don’t use it. It doesn’t play nicely with systemd, in part due to not being aware of sessions. It’s broken and has bugs that upstream refuses to fix."
I wonder how true this is, and if we should put up a Warning with this text on top of the article.

:The #archlinux channel "warns" against a host of other software, including netctl, so you'd have to review all bot queries (anyone can add them as far as I know) and check them for factual accuracy... -- Alad (talk) 09:03, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
::The factoid was created by demize, who is part of the channel op team. I'll see if i can ask for details.

::Even without evidence about technical concerns, here are facts which look to me might be enough to give some warning against its usage:
::* While there is a sourceforge project page, there doesn't seem to be much on it besides the download (no bug tracker and no link to VCS)
::* The linked Project-Homepage (http://slim.berlios.de/) is down. It has been for a while. I can't remember exactly how long it was when i last check. We can just wait 1-2 months, and then check again if anything has changed in that regard.
::* Last entry in ChangeLog 2013.10.01. Compare that to lxde, which has a public git repository with 7 entries in the log in 2014.
