Swapfile on XFS

There is evidence (my box, this discussion [1]) which suggests that using "fallocate" to create a swapfile on an XFS partition will give a somehow invalid swapfile ("swapon -v" isn't terribly specific, but it doesn't succeed), but using the "dd" method gives the desired result. Perhaps this warrants a warning in the appropriate section Swap#Swapfile? Tslil (talk) 08:50, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

From the discussion linked above, the issue is caused by old version of xfs. This version was old 2 years ago on Ubuntu, so how is this relevant for Arch? -- Lahwaacz (talk) 16:05, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your message, and my apologies about the delay in response. Well, at the bottom of the discussion you'll note that there is a post dating to Nov 2014 which links to a discussion on a the redhat bugtracker where, in particular, they note what I have discovered and suggest amending their fallocate(1) man page [2] appropriately. Tslil (talk) 20:48, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
This should be covered by the note in Swap#Swap_file_creation. Closing -- Alad (talk) 10:50, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Swap check

It could be interisting to have a way to check the swap is functional after a swapon. —This unsigned comment is by Louson (talk) 09:41, 6 August 2016‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

If swapon hasn't reported any errors, then it is functional. -- Lahwaacz (talk) 10:27, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Swappiness

sysctl vm.swappiness=10

does not work for me

sysctl -w vm.swappiness=10

works —This unsigned comment is by Shimoda (talk) 00:24, 12 September 2016‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

gets swap really still actived twice by systemd?

There is a section about systemd trying to activate swap twice, and several ideas how to work around the error message which appears due to the second attmept to swapon. Is it still an issue? I think Lennart fixed this maybe: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/systemd-devel/2015-January/027521.html and the following mails... Mearon (talk) 05:45, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry, where is the section? -- Lahwaacz (talk) 07:52, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
