'''Version:''' wicd 1.6.0.

Recipe "4.3 Connecting as a Normal User" does not working for me, because not enougth privileges to start wicd daemon. It works if I just adding my user to group "users".

Let me show content of my original /etc/dbus-1/system.d/wicd.conf is (without header and footer):

        <policy user="root">

                <allow own="org.wicd.daemon"/>

                <allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon"/>

                <allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon"/>

                <allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.wireless"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.wireless"/>

<allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.wired"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.wired"/>

<allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.config"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.config"/>

        </policy>

        <policy at_console="true">

                <allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon"/>

                <allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon"/>

<allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.wireless"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.wireless"/>

<allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.wired"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.wired"/>

<allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon.config"/>

<allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon.config"/>

<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable"/>

        </policy>

        <policy context="default">

                <deny own="org.wicd.daemon"/>

        </policy>

&lt;!-- This Unix group will have permission to use Wicd's gui -->

        <policy group="users">

                <allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable"/>

                <allow send_destination="org.wicd.daemon"/>

                <allow send_interface="org.wicd.daemon"/>

        </policy>

Pay your attention to the comment "This Unix group will have permission to use Wicd's gui".

== No need for rebooting ==

There is no need to reboot your computer after installing and configuring wicd. Arch != Windows so there's no need to reboot after installing some (trivial) stuff like wicd,

If you want your new group for a user to be active you can just logout and login.

== Errors on Page ==

There are some pretty silly errors on this page. This includes misnamed daemons, nonexistent daemons, etc. What is going on here?!

<pre>

rc.d stop dhcpcd

</pre>

Really? I'm gonna attempt to read through this and tidy it up a bit. Any obvious errors you see, please fix them. ;_;

== where to do permanent iwconfig changes? ==

under this section:

"If wicd can get an IP address for a wired interface and is unable to get an IP address for a wireless interface, try disabling the wireless card's powersaving features: # iwconfig wlan0 power off"

shouldn't it say where to put this so it's permanently run?

Also, it seems to be a suggested solution for the intermittent connection drops (the ones where dmesg shows "wlan0: deauthenticating from MAC by local choice (reason=3)", I'm still testing if it works for me, but [http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/gentoo-user-wireless-deauthenticating-by-local-choice-help-204640041.html others have reported it as a solution]).

: Update. http://uselessuseofcat.com/?p=67 hinted that pm-utils could be at fault, their solution seems to work for me (ie. putting that line in the file /etc/pm/power.d/wireless). Should this go in the wiki article?
