Ideas

1. Request to close FS#30045?
2. Revise and possibly expand ArchWiki:Contributing
   • After that the "ArchWiki Tutorial" link in Main Page could be pointed to ArchWiki:Contributing (and swapped with "Forum Etiquette"?).
   • Add some references to Special:SpecialPages tools
   • Also reconsider [2]
3. Write checklists for the most common operations
   • Deleting a page:
     • When marking a page for deletion, the content shouldn't be removed (including redirect code)
     • A similar checklist is needed when breaking redirects (e.g. when marking them for deletion)
     • Check interlanguage backlinks at least on the same wiki (Help:i18n#Finding articles with specific interlanguage links)
   • Moving a page
   • Creating a page
   • Moving a section within an article or to another article
   • Deleting content
   • Adding a translation
   • ...?
4. Internationalization:
   • ArchWiki Translation Team (Language) pages could be associated with localized Category:Request:Translation (Language) categories
   • Templates should be coded so that they are language-neutral, with all their messages coded as {{{msg1|default English message}}}: non-English articles should use meta-templates that simply call the basic template localizing its messages: {{Template|msg1=localized message}}
     • An alternative could make use of parser functions (should be installed, http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:ParserFunctions) in order to recognize the page namespace and sub-namespace and print the correct messages
5. Templates:
   • The documentation of article status templates requires improvement
   • Use Template:Deletion also for sections? (modify the heading)
   • Merge Template:Expansion and Template:Stub?
   • Template:Split? (as opposed to Template:Merge)
   • Move Template:Moveto to Template:Move and Translateme to Translate?
   • Move Template:Out of date to Template:Outdated?
   • Is Template:Bad translation necessary? (Accuracy, Poor writing, Translateme, Out of date, Stub and Expansion could replace it more accurately)
   • Template:Poor formatting? Or Template:Poor style to include also Template:Poor writing?
   • Template:Announcement (find better name?) to be used for temporary announcements instead of Note?
   • Use Template:Error in more templates? Create, translate and use localized versions.
   • Move Template:Error to Template:Undefined Parameter?
   • Template:Pkg and Template:AUR: add a 2nd optional argument for specifying package version (thus keeping link style)? e.g. pacman<=3.5
     Also consider using an optional parameter to disable the exact match flag.
   • Template with category to keep track of external bug reports?
   • Check Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Box_BLUE - Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Note, Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Box_RED - Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Warning, Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Box_GREEN - Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Tip, Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Box_YELLOW
     Instead of using queries to get the differences, we could just delete the meta-templates "Box COLOR", making Note, Warning and Tip use Box directly, thus also preventing the Box COLOR templates to be used inappropriately
     Template:Box YELLOW should probably just be deleted, since 1) it's not coherent with the other 3 colors (#[D8]{6}|#[FA]{6} vs #[DB]{6}|#[FD]{6}) and 2) still for coherence, we'd also need the red+blue and green+blue versions
   • Do we need Template:FAQ or can we just always use normal sections like in FAQ?
   • Deprecate Template:Wikipedia and Template:Gentoo? (used sparingly) Remember their translations!
   • Template for linking forum threads in the vein of Pkg, AUR, Grp, Bug...
