Beginners' Guide update
Hi. You accidentally removed most of the content on the Beginners' Guide/Installation with these changes so I rolled it back. I was going to replace the old section on the page with yours, but I realized that the core install CD will still have to use the old rc.conf syntax before being updated. I kept your replacement section at Talk:Beginners' Guide/Installation for now (where we can figure out what to do). Not sure what a proper solution is, since the netinstall will have the new syntax (I think). thestinger 01:09, 4 July 2011 (EDT)
- Hey. Was no accident. Good point about the ISO not reflecting the changes though. On the other hand, as soon as the user updates the system, these new changes will be affecting the system. Perhaps best to leave the new info in the guide with a note about a first update?
- How do you get the date/time stamp on the wiki again?
The wiki does care if it's Modprobed_db or Modprobed-db - the latter page does not exist. I noticed this typo in your 'Favorite Wiki Pages to Which I Have Contributed' list. -- Karol 21:04, 31 December 2011 (EST)
Re: Modprobed_db typo
Good eye for detail. Fixed and thanks -- Graysky 08:24, 1 January 2012 (EST)
Hey, I've just undone this edit since it breaks style consistency: I think that we must make such choices globally, and not arbitrarily having some code with prompts and some other without. The current style guidelines mention the use of prompts, so this problem should be discussed in Help talk:Style first, agreed? :) -- Kynikos 12:14, 22 January 2012 (EST)
Re: Command prompts
It's me again :) I appreciate what you're doing on the wiki, but, as you're one of the most active contributors, I'd like to ask you to use the Summary field in editor pages, just above the Save page button, to explain the what and why of your edits, since there are users like me who patrol the recent changes, and it's much more difficult and time consuming to check an unexplained edit than an explained one. See also Help:Style#Edit summary. Thank you for collaborating and for contributing! -- Kynikos 05:05, 10 February 2012 (EST)
You got it. Thank you for all the time that you put into making the wiki consistent :)
