Don't REPLACE build instructions by a hint to AUR packages
I vote against that, since neither of these works for me. I am fine with pointing to them first, but make clear that they *might* or *might not* work. For me, having the PCI packages installed renders my system (a Lenovo T14s Gen1 AMD) rather unstable. It frequently boots with a blue screen, loses wifi and bluetooth upon resuming, etc. Most of the time I manage to get a mobile connection up manually (as root) *once*, but I learned the hard way multiple times that it's not a good idea to continue working on my system then, or even try to suspend/resume it. So, in my opinion, this remains a very hacky business and that should be visible in the wiki article. Nursoda (talk) 22:36, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- This article is years old and at that time there was active development for driver and Kernel (6.2).
- I do not have the device anymore so can't tell how it works now.

- I'll add it to my to do list. If I do, I want to do it properly, and that takes time to re-do all steps from scratch on a clean system. This, it will take a while until I can do it. - I reviewed the situation today. There's a new development that has to be taken into account: From what I read in the ModemManager PR (summarized here) incorporates changes that allow the modem to "just work" using the standard
iosmdriver. That way, no specificxmm7360-pcidriver is needed at all. The necessary code (along with reusable scheduler code) was merged in June 2025, but there has been no ModemManager release since then. It may (or may not) take a while to the next ModemManager release (the last release took 9 months), but there are -dev tag releases, and there's a mantained AUR for those: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/modemmanager-dev. I'll install that and modify the article if the next modemmanager-dev release works for me. - I had to install a later version of libmm-glib from the AUR to get the newer modem manager to run, although the modem is still being stubbon.
- I've previously had it connecting to the cell network and passing traffic on a different distro by using the python scripts from the XMM7360 repo but with the the iosm driver although I've never yet had it working properly with MM and reporting signal strength.etc Dragon2611 (talk) 14:06, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
