Consider the following conversation:

John: The build system for Gentoo is "global".

Jane: Oh? What could you possibly mean by that?

John: It offers compile options that affect packages system-wide via [global] USE flags.

I fail to see how this is "in error". Further, I believe this is an important distinction to make between Arch and Gentoo; two distributions that are often likened to one another.

Have you considered re-wording the offending sentence instead of simply deleting it? Perhaps:

The Arch Build System is targeted at building individual packages whereas Portage can utilize global USE flags that affect several packages, system-wide.
