Steam controller udev rules

Hi Almindor,

Welcome to the Arch Wiki and thanks for your contribution to Gamepad!

I have undone your edit because I don't think it should be necessary. Could you please comment at Talk:Gamepad#Steam controller udev rules, so we can figure out if it really is necessary?

Thanks! Lonaowna (talk) 23:29, 9 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey, you're right. I don't know why it didn't work for me. I spend roughly 2 hours banging my head on the wall first. Maybe I put my own rules in there and then just missed that update (I did check my steam package version when editing).

Sorry about the confusion, wanted to make sure nobody else has to go through it :) Almindor (talk) 23:11, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Actually I take it back! It doesn't work for all games. I just tried TokiTori 2+ and the game doesn't recognize the controller anymore. This could be something specific to my set up but I don't remember doing anything gamepady prior to this.

Do I have to be in some group as a user? If I look at /dev/uinput now it's root:root only not writeable by anyone else it seems. I don't fully understand the uinput rule in the steam package rule file, how does it give access to uinput?

I'll put my change back for now but if you want me to test something etc. I'm here.
