Dell printer
Hi! I have a few concerns about [1]:
- The download link might (will) become stale; is there a better way of linking to it (is it difficult to find? could the link be removed?)
- You have said that it also works on x86_64 machines; do you have multilib set up? Is there actually any architecture-specific files in the package?
- Ideally, dpkg should not be used to install software. A better method would be to use a PKGBUILD, or debtapAUR.
Thanks for contributing! -- Pypi (talk) 05:40, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi! I do understand your concerns, and I have them myself, but I am not sure how can they be addressed

- I had difficulties finding it; DELL site supposedly has a drop-box to search for linux drivers, but it does not work for me, and I tried firefox, and chromium; both with and without adblock. This is why I hotlinked file directly - for the fear of not being able to find it again.

- I likely do have multilib. I have no idea what's in package architecture-specific, if I was to speculate, it's likely filter, and you are likely correct that it is probably running via multilib

- I agree with you here as well, but I have been very busy lately, and barely have any time at all to do research/development for community. So, when I got this printer and figured out how to make it work, it was for me either document it as-is, or nothing at all. :I would gladly invite others to pick up where I left
- Right, thanks for the reply - I've left the download link. I'm going to edit the page and try to put in more general instructions as I am unhappy about the use of dpkg - please try to clarify/correct them if you think it would help! -- Pypi (talk) 21:31, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
