From ArchWiki

This is the first time that I've used a wiki, so i'm not sure if anyone else will ever read this. Just in case: I've just installed arch linux on my system(celeron 2.66ghz, 256MB ram..) I was up until 3:00am to finish the install and some configuration, the install was surprisingly quick. Now it's a matter of configuration, I wonder how to get rid of the beep?

So far, so good... I've decided to give blackbox a try, it's nice.I can't seem to mount a floppy... and am having trouble setting up fetchmail.

All right, it's been a while since my last post. Since then I have figured out how to mount a floppy and have also given up on fetchmail, prefering instead to install mozillas 'thunderbird'. I have configured X and installed the nvidia drivers. Now printer configuration....with cups(aarrrggggghhhh)

Well, I just did. Nice idea, this diary. You still around? ;) --byte 04:33, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

In response to Bytes post, yes I am still around. Actually, I'm back and I can't believe it's 2007. I've been using linux for nearly three years! wow, You'd think I'd know more than I do. Sadly however that is how the cookie has crumbled and I'm still struggling with many of the finer points of system administration, such as: why does my new laptop refuse to reboot/power on after installing various linux distributions? why did it not have these issues when running windows vista? proprietary hardware, DRM, do they know what I'm thinking?

Aside from these trivial and unimportant issues that have me envisioning the bottom of a murky lake covered with electronic devices I have also been playing around with plan 9. Well, at the very least getting it to run in VMware and qemu. Winter is near as are the plan 9 manuals that I've ordered from vita nuova, filling me with a new vision. One of me sipping hot chocolate while reading the plan 9 manual, arch linux running on my laptop and within it plan 9 running in qemu. That is my winter plan.
