Networked Brother scanner

With regards to [1], could you please clarify why it is different/better from the method mentioned just above it? (SANE/Scanner-specific problems#Brother). If you could also fix your edit to be more general (ie, replace brother4 with brotherX or something like that), that would be good :D -- Pypi (talk) 03:59, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi sure, using the latest brscan4 from AUR and setting it up as supposed to using `brsaneconfig4 -a name=SCANNER model=MFC-9332CDW ip=` plus checking that it was added using `brsaneconfig4 -q` was not enough for me. I had to manually do these to things to get the printer to work. Printer model is: MFC-9332CDW, for which no AUR package is available, and I couldn't manage to create one. I updated the section to be more general, which makes absolutely sense. Thx. I added another section called warning. The scanner libraries added a folder /usr/lib64/... which is not needed plus it breaks the initial ramfs creation process. Hope that is ok. Cheers -- Schnecki (talk) 08:24, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
OK, thanks for the clarification - feel free to close this. Combined with Lahwaacz's edits, it looks much better; the problem with /usr/lib64 is something that needs fixing in the corresponding package, so you should get in touch with the maintainer to see whether it can be fixed rather than adding it to the wiki.
