You can check if it's similar or different from yours. In particular for the VGA controllers, I know some users have reported having different version of the hardware which causes a lot more issues for them. I guess, I was just lucky: I got no-so-new hardware. Bouh (talk) 06:11, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for sharing! I diffed it to mine, and we have the exact same VGA section. The only difference is that I changed the Broadcom wifi chip with an Intel 7265.

So the difference is that you use brcmfmac and I use iwlwifi. Do you think this could be the problem? I have absolutely no trouble with wifi, it works perfect.--Tommyfankhauser (talk) 12:02, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What kind of kernel dump you see in journal --system -e if you try to poweroff? Bouh (talk) 01:26, 18 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

However, for this try I was able to successfully resume with everything working just fine. Sometimes however, the display does just not turn on and I have to manually hardreset the laptop.

Further, when I issue a reboot or poweroff I get the following:

Hum. I can't really tell from the shutdown logs, but during the suspend, it's clear that you have an issue with the wireless. It would be interesting to try to stop your network manager (which seems to be netctl), unload your wireless module iwlwifi (the unloading itself might cause an issue), then try to suspend/poweroff. If you have no issues doing suspend/poweroff, then certainly, your wireless modules are at fault. Essentially:

# systemctl stop netctl
# modprobe -r iwlwifi
# systemctl suspend

See how that goes. Bouh (talk) 11:07, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

With unloaded iwlwifi I still was not able to wake up the system:

After suspend the screen goes black, and I have no chance of revitalising it trough pressing the power button etc.--Tommyfankhauser (talk) 11:22, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What if you restart with the iwlwifi module blacklisted?

/etc/modprobe.d/no-iwlwifi.conf
blacklist iwlwifi

Does that make a difference when trying to suspend? (it's just for the sake of testing) Bouh (talk) 13:19, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for your help. Blacklisting does not change anything in the suspend/resume - sometimes I can rewakeup the computer, sometimes I get the ACPI error. In the next few days I will make a little systematic test series with connected power, peripherals, etc. to see if I can boil the problem down to at least a certain subsystem. --Tommyfankhauser (talk) 16:31, 25 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Tommyfankhauser, have you managed to progress with your suspend issue? Bouh (talk) 14:31, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, just see this and like to chime in. This: [1] appears to have fixed a similar issue with suspend on my machine (screen going black, fans spinning up, hardreset needed). Maybe it works in your case too. --Indigo (talk) 15:44, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for asking back. I did not solve the issue, but was able to narrow it down. With the latest BIOS 1.3.3, suspend/resume works perfect, as long as I don't use the USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 connect. I tested this now massively. I've been running the laptop for more than 5 days now with endless suspend/resumes by systemd, the lid, etc. it works perfectly. However, as soon as I connect something to the USB-C port (I have a USB-C -> HDMI connector - fully working, and the official Dell DA200 - where the HDMI does not work yet), the suspend resume does not work anymore. There are no special dmesg errors except the mentioned skl_slowpath and the adapters and rest of system is working quite well. So currently I assume its something inside the Kernel or Firmware related to Thunderbolt 3. Tommyfankhauser (talk) 17:57, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
