KDE seems to autostart xsettingsd

Apparently kded somehow starts xsettingsd using systemd on login for the user. I was looking around for ages why it is running. I still didn't find the exact method it starts. Some more info here: https://github.com/KDE/kde-gtk-config

xsettingsd.service is set up as a part of graphical-session.target (literally, it has "PartOf=" option). So it starts always when graphical-session.target does. For desktop environments like KDE or GNOME starting of graphical-settion.target is achieved by their corresponding systemd unit files, and for window managers you might need to configure it manually. Here is an example for I3 with some explanation and links on what is going on.

It was a stupid mistake, shame on me( I've corrected my bad edit (also reverted the KDE note), the article is good now. - Andrei Korshikov (talk) 16:31, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My comment was somehow older than most of the edits relating to KDE. ;) Thanks for clearing that up. Archwiki truly is a treasure. - JoeCool (talk) JoeCool (talk) 00:10, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
