Chromebook page: 64-bit installation note

Hi, thank you for your contribution but it seems to me that the info in the added in the edit is superfluous and inaccurate, if the usb installation media you created wasn't usable due to the fact it created on a system with uefi then the correct approach is to instruct grub to use a bios target (--target=i386-pc, see Grub page) so I don't see a reason why the note is needed.Dhead (talk) 22:39, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Dhead, and thank you for your message! I tried to put the flag --target=i386-pc on a system which uses UEFI but using it caused the command to fail due to some missing files (this happened on Ubuntu, not sure if it will work with archlinux). So only solution which I came up with was to run the grub-install command on a system which used BIOS. I think it could be also possible to install BIOS grub depencies to UEFI based machine but I am not sure how to do that (even after checking the wiki page you sent). Is it possible for you Dhead to try using the --target=i386-pc flag on an UEFI machine to be sure about that the missing file error wasn't just specific to me? We could then do after that some refinements to the note. -Putti

I will have some time tomorrow to test this on EUFI Arch system, if it won't work then the Grub page should be updated accordingly.Dhead (talk) 15:56, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
