telnet enhancements for security
The introductory text for the article discusses telnet is not secured. However, inetutils now offers a more secured telnet. upstream manual page now has
- `Request Kerberos realm realm' instead of default realm,
and
- `If possible, encrypt the data stream'.
debian 12 description states
- `This implementation supports Kerberos, for authentication and encryption'.
It looks to me as if arch deliberately avoids the options for a more secured telnet. Comparing PKGBUILD to debians' rules reveals arch does not use --with-krb5
. It could be there are good reasons for arch reluctant to offer a more secured telnet. I am not sure the article should not mention all this. Regid (talk) 19:37, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
