About Wordpress#Configure apache
Should we not rather recommend to create a virtual host, instead of creating a global alias? (Right now, calling http://<any host looped to lo in /etc/hosts>/wordpress
will send to wordpress, but not e.g. myblog.localhost
)

Nginx configuration
If nobody minds, I would like to add how to configure nginx with wordpress as an alternative to apache. ( I will just assume it is okay, if nobody answers in the next few days) Balthasar (talk) 00:11, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Improve grammar
I've added two troubleshooting contents("Plugins are unable to install: Could not create directory","Cannot save plugins to localhost"), however I'm very aware that this is poorly written. If someone could improve my formatting etc, that would be great.

Using MariaDB command-line tool
Following the instructions in that section I could not start the installation, the 'GRANT' privilege in the 'Administration' section for the user was not granted but as far as I can tell it is needed.

Instructions don't work since upgrade of php to version 8
Since the introduction of php 8 the instructions on this page don't work. Furthermore this introduces a lot of incompatibilities with wordpress (and plugins). See https://developer.yoast.com/blog/the-2020-wordpress-and-php-8-compatibility-report/ for details.
Just instructing users to install the php7 package (in the php instructions on the apache page) wouldn't suffice either, because other packages needed for these instructions, like `php-apache`, are not available for php7.
