Asimov

Introduction

Those who are familiar with Asimov's works will sing praises about the Three Laws of Robotics and his many contributions to science fiction (which he most undoubtedly deserves). I, too, was in this boat. However, recently, I started visiting used bookstores at the urging of a close friend and noticing Asimov's name frequently in the science fiction section, made a habit of buying any book I could with his name on it. After some years, I stopped going to bookstores because my bookshelves were packed to the brim and I still had piles of them on the floor.

I looked through my small Asimov collection and looked through the lesser known titles. Among them, I purchased several collections of essays that he wrote diligently in his monthly column. Having read a few of his essays on robots provided at the end of "Robot Visions", I curiously picked one up and started to read.

Some are dated, naturally, but I loved his way with words and how he constructed trains of thoughts that he led his Gentle Readers through (logically and reasonably of course) to arrive at his point at the end. More than that, I admired the wide range in topics that he chose to write about and found myself interested no matter the subject.

I've read a good amount now but have barely scratched the surface, but some have stuck out to me more than others and I took the time to type these out in text files (mainly because they aren't easily available online so it was probably faster to type it out, but also because I like typing and any activity that takes time to do and not much is accomplished at the end).

It is my hope to highlight Asimov's personal bests by making them available to those who want it and, hopefully, stir the minds of readers to great heights and the farthest reaches of our universe.
