Hey, sorry to bring up such an old topic. I saw you were the person who contributed the original info on the rust packaging guidelines and was curious about using `--release` for testing. From my understanding, it would be better to test using a debug build so that underflow and overflow checks are enforced, and so that `debug_assert`s are still used. I'm not super knowledgeable on the topic though, so it's possible I'm missing something.
