Why?

I don't understand the purpose of this page. The "Retrieve for the 1st time" section is already covered on the main page, under "Acquire build files"; "Retrieve the source", "Extract the source", and "Build" are all covered by "Build the package", and there's no reason to do them all separately; "Install", as it says, is already covered by "Install the package"; and the entire "Update" section is covered by "Upgrading packages", and there's no reason to do all of the steps outlined, makepkg takes care of all of that. The only thing that's really different about -git PKGBUILDs would be that you may have to do a git reset before pulling the AUR repo again, and you can use makepkg without pulling to update to the latest upstream commits, both of those could just be added to the main page. I will remove the article if contrary opinions to Scimmia will not be received within 2-3 weeks. Regid (talk) 22:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The name of the article is unsuitable. There should be no such thing as an asterisk or other "wildcards" in titles. Otherwise, it's true that most of the content is either already covered in AUR, or covered by makepkg itself. -- Alad (talk) 12:12, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
