Purpose of the page
Hi, before you spend a lot of your time in developing this page, according to the introduction you have written I must advise you that it may be rejected if you decided to move it to the Main namespace, for the following reasons:
- It seems to create another kind of Beginners' guide (overlapping its scope), which is instead under the opposite process of being slimmed down, deduplicated and eventually merged with the Installation guide, see Talk:Beginners' guide#Unification.
- Much of the content may not be specifically related to Arch Linux, and/or it could be duplicating other existing articles, which should be expanded instead if not clear enough, or it may duplicate external official documentation, which is advised against by Help:Style#Hypertext metaphor.
In general, on the ArchWiki we try to avoid long catch-all, all-comprising articles, and instead spread information on various specific articles, properly interlinked wherever possible to avoid duplication of content. In some cases it's nonetheless possible to write introductory articles that list links to other specific pages with short descriptions, for example General recommendations, Autostarting, dm-crypt or the Installation guide itself.
This said, of course you have the opportunity to contest my observations, and also you can liberally expand this guide if your intention is to keep it on your User page :)
- Hi, this guide isn't going to be moved to the Main namespace. I'm just using my user page as a convenient way to store drafts. Thanks for sharing your concerns though. Katyaka (talk) 04:03, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
