Talk:Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

Maybe the ACPI calls for system performance mode and rapid charge are incorrect.

System Performance Mode and Rapid charge don't work as expected. I get AE_NOT_FOUND errors when the ACPI calls are invoked. Battery conservation mode works fine.

I get the same "Error: AE_NOT_FOUND" on the Performance Mode and Rapid Charge settings with both linux and linux_lts (and acpi_call/acpi_call-lts respectively). The same commands (Although with the tee commands) worked ~6 months ago on the very same laptop, so it was quite confusing when I couldn't get it to work.
Also, sorry for the bad edit Erus, it's my first time on any sort of talk page :)

No worries, thanks for pointing out my mistake in the removal of tee though, I've updated the page accordingly. Do the commands "magically" work now? --Erus Iluvatar (talk) 13:48, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, what I meant by that tee part was more "It worked 5 months ago, albeit with tee". Sorry for the confusion and my bad explanation.
Though unfortunately, all versions (Current, before this recent change, and with tee) are not working. I'll play around with acpi_call versions later and will inform.

My bad, I was too focused on fixing my mistake and misunderstood what you were talking about --'
Thanks for looking into this :)

Hey, I'm the original author of this wiki entry. I originally wrote this for my 2021 Ideapad Gaming 3, though Lenovo now has turned it into a series. The ACPI calls still work fine fine for me... I'm thinking maybe this is an issue with slight differences between models. @SpaceNerden What version of the Ideapad Gaming 3 are you using exactly?
Also, @SpaceNerden, do you dual boot Windows by any chance? (I don't but maybe there was a BIOS update that changed ACPI calls)? Niklas Stephanblome (talk) 09:15, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

amdpgu.backlight=0 not working (15ACH6 or is it 15ARH7?)

I installed Ubuntu a while ago. They have managed to solve the backlight issue in Lenovo Gaming 3 recently. But I've placed the parameters in ArchLinux grub. Nothing. It's not working yet and my eyes are bleeding to this point.

But while booting, I can clearly see the amdgpu_bl1 backlight service starting.

Now after trying out with the system performance mode options, the ones that worked for me were those for the 15ARH7, not those for 15ACH6 (even thought that's what the sticker below says).

Any ideas? Diegopaucarv (talk) 05:22, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
