Sorry. Just to make sure that pacman doesn't throw a bunch of 404 errors for those who used the old i686 repository, I left it there, but forgot to remove the firefox-gtk2 package information in the database. Since it is causing some confusion, I have properly emptied the repository tarballs (with repo-remove) and will leave them there for those who cannot be bothered to remove the repository from their pacman.conf. As for the reason why I no longer maintain an i686 repository, I originally included it because I had an i686 computer that it was useful on and since I've long replaced that decrepit machine with an x86_64 machine, I saw no reason to continue building those packages. The repository is mainly a convenience to me and I provide it to the community in case others may find them useful. The i686 repository was no longer a convenience to me, so I dumped it. Then there was a time that firefox could not be built with gcc>=6.0 and I built it for those on i686 to use in the meantime (built using gcc<6.0) and I removed the package for it and its signature when the package was able to be built by those with gcc>=6.0, but forgot to run repo-remove possibly causing your confusion.
